I think we all tend to forget how the right shoe can save your life.
Working in the medical field will literally have you on your feet 12 hours a day. Depending on how many days you work, it could be five days a week, three days a week, or a seven day straight rotation. Either way you need comfort and support – maybe a little bit of style if you ask me. Through my years of nursing as a trauma operating room nurse and all the way up to my role as a provider, the right shoe has saved my life and others. I used to count my steps after most shifts and I was easily clocking about 15,000 or more – try doing it some crocs and you tell me how I feel. Here are my top five shoes and then I’ll run the floors.
1. Nike Presto
If you are looking for a spring in your step with some good comfort behind it then these are your shoes. Literally changed my life fresh out of school.
2. adidas NMD
If you’re looking for a comfortable shoe to set off your fresh scrubs I think these will do the trick although I will recommend not wearing white shoes if you drawing blood or don’t have shoe covers. I can’t even begin to tell you the rough time are you getting blood Out of white shoes it’s a nightmare.
3. New Balance 577
These are easily the ugliest shoes I have ever worn in my life but they are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn in my life! These bad boys got me through 12 hours or better surgeries, scrubbed in, blood all over the place, running to get instruments. These bad boys held me down for a good two years. Of course I only wore them at work but the shoes are loyal.
4. ASICS Gel Nimbus
There’s always that one thing that will always have your heart and these are those. These are probably the second most comfortable shoes I’ve ever had. These are multi-purpose, I could work out, wear with my scrubs, and with a casual fit. If I gave it a yelp review, I would say five stars.
5. Brooks Adrenaline GTS
Now these bad boys are dark horses. Most people never heard of Brooks but I guarantee you have to buy a pair to understand. Yes, yes, yes I understand that the aesthetics of if it looks unpopular but they feel good and these feel good sneakers are hands-down a good buy.
These are easily my top five dead or alive so to speak no pun intended. Try them. Let me know how the are. When I’m right just @collegeboyjonesfnp
