I love to feed hungry people, wear dresses, wear sneakers, and drink gin . I am West Baltimore.
As a child I became fascinated with food. My grandfather was a chef. I spent many hours in the kitchen with him and my grandmother watching them cook meals for the family. I can’t say that I ever wanted to do anything else but cook for people. I am a classically trained chef, that means my education was in the tradition of French Cuisine and the scientific methods of how food is created. As I got older I became more aware of the importance that food plays in fellowship and community. I was influenced by participation in church dinners, preparing large meals, and serving people. Female chef icons for me are Ms. Leah Chase, @kiacooks who happens to have a mean sneaker collection and Angie Mar who makes me believe that diamonds, sweats, and butters are wardrobe staples.
I am a quintessential TomBoy (is that term even politically correct anymore??) I vividly remember making sure my sneakers matched my shirts, Yellow, green and white Nautica polo, green and white Nike’s. Red hoodie ,red black and neon green Nike Sertig. Growing up my older brother was the biggest influence on my style of dress. I more times than not dressed like him except I had long acrylic nails, big hair, and gold jewelry. As I came into my own fashion sense I became committed to the marriage of wearing dresses and sneakers, with a heavy emphasis on vintage pieces. Whimsical nightgowns worn as day wear with the Jordan Multicolor Mid 1’s. Cut off shorts, a Crenshaw hoodie with Air Max 90’s. These pieces may not make sense to anyone else but they work for me and I am comfortable and confident in my choices. My shoe choices and food choices are equally important to me. I can’t say that I have a favorite style of sneaker, I just like what I like. I can’t say that I have a go to food, the people that I cook for do. At home I cook what I have a taste for. Here’s a glimpse into my vision for food and sneakers:
OG Killshota -with the cropped green Under Armor tee by Devin Allen- food match collard greens with amino acids.
Red Jordan Cement 3’s- Nike Sweatshirt Dress -food match Beet Hummus
Nike Zoom Freak 1- Zara black tank dress -food match ratatouille
“ buy the sneakers, eat the food, live the life you choose”
